Disney Parks Around the World: Start with the Destination

Florida and California are only the start. A resort-by-resort map for choosing the Disney trip you actually want to take.

There is no single “Disney park vacation.” Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World in Florida, Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland Paris can all be Disney trips while asking completely different things from the traveler.

Walt Disney World Resort — Florida

Best for: a full destination vacation. Four theme parks, resorts, water parks and Disney Springs make Florida the Disney trip with the most planning surface area. It rewards longer stays and benefits most from understanding transportation.

Disneyland Resort — California

Best for: compact park-focused trips and Disney history. Two parks face each other across a walkable esplanade, and nearby Anaheim hotels make the resort unusually accessible without staying on-site.

Disneyland Paris

Best for: combining Disney with a European trip or exploring one of Disney’s most visually dramatic castle parks. The resort has two gates and its own attraction lineup rather than being a simple copy of California or Florida.

Tokyo Disney Resort

Best for: theme-park fans who care deeply about operations, entertainment and unique attractions. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are operated by Oriental Land Company under license from Disney, an important ownership distinction.

DisneySea is the unique draw: a Disney park organized around themed ports and maritime adventure rather than a traditional castle-park structure.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Best for: a more compact resort with highly distinctive attractions and lands, including World of Frozen and Mystic Manor.

Shanghai Disney Resort

Best for: a modern Disney park designed without simply reproducing the original castle-park template. Zootopia and TRON are major reasons Disney fans put Shanghai on a destination list.

Aulani — Hawaiʻi

Aulani is a Disney resort, not a theme park. That distinction is exactly why some families love it. It combines Disney service and character experiences with an Oʻahu resort vacation.

How to choose: decide whether Disney is the entire vacation or one part of a larger trip. Florida works beautifully as a self-contained Disney world. Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai can integrate naturally into broader city trips.
